Together Against Violence – Symposium (2023)

On February 21, 2023, Skills for Change hosted the second annual Together Against Violence symposium, a virtual event uniting community partners, experts, and advocates from across Canada to address the growing crisis of gender-based violence (GBV).
Now three years into the COVID-19 pandemic, the symposium reflected on the disproportionate impact the crisis has had on women—especially in relation to childcare responsibilities, wage inequality, and a surge in GBV.
The event featured workshops, idea-sharing sessions, and collaborative discussions that provided valuable insight and strategies to support survivors and foster collective healing.
Collaborating organizations included:
- WomanACT
- METRAC
- Canadian Centre for Women’s Empowerment
- WomenatthecentrE
- Newcomer Women’s Services of Toronto
- Rexdale Women’s Centre
- MindfulWe
This impactful symposium was part of Skills for Change’s ongoing Women and Girls Circle Program, dedicated to empowering communities and building safer, stronger support systems for women and girls.
